Black August

Black August is an act of rebellion to both a cultural celebration and a way to uplift current and past political prisoners who were unjustly imprisoned for decades on bullshit charges simply for seeking human rights for Black folks in the US. In this video you hear from the nephew of brother George Jackson who many pay tribute to during the month of August and sister Monifa Bandele of the Malcolm X Grassroots Movement in NYC.

Shout out to the Movement for Black Lives who continue to keep this holday alive in the minds of young organizers, artists, etc.
